Accelerated Reader begins September 8th! Each student must check out, read, and test on books on his/her reading level. Each child will have a personal nine week goal to meet. Students' progress will be monitored, grades will be assigned and prizes will be awarded every nine weeks! Use Renaissance Home Connect to keep up to date with your child's AR activities. Notes were sent home with each student telling their User Name and Password to logon to the Renaissance Place website, which you can do from the following website:

Accelerated Reader (AR) is the world’s most popular reading management software. Accelerated Reader provides an easy and effective way to monitor guided reading practice and ensure success for every student, regardless of reading level.
General information about AR:
Students are administered the STAR test, which evaluates their reading level. Books in our library and at the public library are labeled with these levels. Students pick books in their reading level, and when they are finished reading, they will take a test on what they've read.
Riveroaks is proud to say that we have the best version of Accelerated Reader, which provides our students with the maximum amount of quizzes-that means more books for the children to choose from! Children will be given the STAR Reading test soon, and after they are given their reading level they should be checking out AR books and taking quizzes on them in the classroom! If you have a question about your child's reading level or what the requirements are for Accelerated Reader, please contact myself or your child's teacher.
